Support for Mutual Funds in Model Portfolios

You can now invest in Mutual Funds through Model Portfolios. Note that because Mutual Funds trade only once/day when the market closes, the number of shares and cash value update differently from other assets.

You can add funds to an existing model, or create a new model to invest in the fund. To add Mutual Funds to an existing model, in the Rebalance window use the Rebalance to Target feature. For a new model, use the Reallocation feature that you can open from the Portfolio page.

Note that due to the way in which Mutual Funds trade, updates to Position and Cash Value work differently. Because it takes time for MFs to execute as they only trade once per day after market close, when trades are submitted the market value is reduced by the amount of the order, because at that point there are no shares (position shows 0). Once the order executes and the position is updated, Market Value also updates to include the value of the shares.

Fixes and Improvements

This release includes:

  • The Trade Log window has been renamed Trade History and uses a new icon.
  • Stocks that have an estimated IPO price will now show that price and be identified with an "IPO" badge.
  • API Users: Effective with API version 10.14 and higher, you can now interact with advanced reject messages in the API.
  • Adjust Average Cost Disabled: Accounts that has assets that go through a corporate action, has positions opened through multiple trades, or has a position is transferred in always showed the correct average price in their statement, but did not always show correct updates in TWS. For this reason we allowed users to update their position or average cost in the Account window. We are migrating all accounts to use Statement Cost in both statement and TWS, so the position and average cost will no longer need to be adjusted. This feature was accessed in the Account window using the right-click menu on a position.
  • Vulnerability patch to TWS: Due to a global vulnerability in popular infrastructure software known as "Log4j," we recently updated libraries for all versions of our TWS software. If you use the standalone "Offline" version of TWS, you must manually upload the most recent version to get the patch. If you used the Login menu to install an updating version of TWS to your desktop, you will receive the patched version when you log in.
