US Stock Trading Costs for UK and EU Residents

1. DISCLAIMER: Comparison to other providers is based on our understanding of their published rates for trading US shares available on their websites as of August 3, 2026. Some providers offer multi currency accounts which were not considered in the comparison. We assumed account base currency is GBP and that a FX conversion to USD is required. The comparison is shown for illustrative purposes only. For confirmation of the most up to date competitor rates on different account types and product information you should visit their websites.
2. Total cost considers execution commission and FX conversion costs charged by the providers. In the case of IBKR, and some other providers where readily disclosed, we have additionally included regulatory, clearing and exchange fees that are passed through to the client on a transactional basis.
3. For comparison purposes, we have converted "Advertised Rates" to GBP. The USD/GBP FX rate we used in the comparison table is 0.74129

7. Degiro fees per fee schedule on Degiro UK website. €1.00 per trade transaction fee + €1.00 per trade handling fee. Assumed that the trade is placed via Auto FX Trader. Does not include €2.50 Connectivity Fee.
8. eToro offers commission-free US stock trades for UK residents. FX conversion fee is 0.75% for general accounts that do not have the club discount.
9. Interactive Investor's £3.99 commission rate is for the Core account type. FX conversion rates of 0.75%. The illustration does not include cost of the account monthly service plan.
10. AJ Bell's FX conversion rates are tiered. Commissions lowered to £3.50 if 10 trades or more are completed in the previous month. Account charge not included.
11. Rate for Basic Investment Account type at Freetrade. FX Rate on non-GBP transactions is 0.99%.
12. Hargreaves Lansdown's £6.95 commission rate is based on 0-19 deals in the previous month. FX conversion rates are tiered based on the deal value.
13. Rate for Revolut Standard account offers 1 free order then charges 0.25% of trade value. FX fee for Standard is 1%.

12. eToro charges $1-$2 commsions depending on exchange. FX conversion fee is 0.75% for general accounts that do not have the club discount.
13. ING Diba's commission is a basic fee of €4.90 + 0.25%.FX conversion fee is 0.25%. ING Diba charges a €14.90 fee for trades on foreign trading venues (exchanges).
14. Swissquote rates are 0.10% of trade value with a minimum of €14.95 per order. Auto Currency conversion fee between USD, CHF, and EUR is 0.90% of trade value.
