ScaleTrader

The TWS ScaleTrader is a flexible, automated trading algorithm that lets you scale into a large position
without being subject to increasingly deteriorating prices,
or trade continually over a specified price range to capture a user-defined profit offset amount.

ScaleTrader

TWS ScaleTrader is designed to help you average down or buy into a weak declining market at ever-lower prices; or conversely, to sell into a market that, having reached highs that are unstable, can be expected to decline; or scale out of a long position.

TWS ScaleTrader offers traders these benefits:
  • Support for Multiple Products - Use ScaleTrader for most products supported by IB, including stocks, options, futures, forex, and bonds, but excluding mutual funds.
  • Trade Pairs and Combos - Custom tabbed interfaces make it easy to set up and monitor large volume scale trade for stock-stock pairs and multi-leg combos.
  • Take Advantage of Fluctuating Markets - The ScaleTrader can be programmed to buy and sell repeatedly in a fluctuating market with a single click to the Restore size after taking profit feature. This replenishes the original quantity from the filled profit-taking side to continually refuel the scale process.
  • Get Price Protection on Your Orders - Completely automates large volume order scaling to insulate trades from increasingly deteriorating prices.
  • Use Automated Profit-Taker - Automatically create profit-taking orders at the user-specified profit offset to sell into periodic surges or liquidate your positions when you have reached your profit objectives.
  • Benefit from Liquidity Rebates - The ScaleTrader can be a liquidity providing strategy that can help you benefit from the liquidity rebates offered by exchanges.
