TWS Release Notes
These release notes document the major enhancements and bug fixes distributed in the current TWS version 939.
Mosaic - Market Scanner Additions and Search Field
Two new scanners, Regulatory Imbalance and IPO Stocks, have been added to the list of predefined Mosaic Market Scanners. Additionally, search fields on the Scanner Library page allow you to quickly search for predefined scans based on keywords. To add a new Mosaic Market Scanner, click the up/down arrow icon in the Mosaic window and select Mosaic Market Scanner.
In addition, a new command, Open TWS, has been added to the Mosaic File menu. This command opens the Advanced Order Management system and has the same result as selecting this item from the New Window drop-down list.
Window-specific Font Size
You can now modify fonts on a per-window basis for most Mosaic and Advanced Order Entry tools and windows. If you specify a window-specific font size, it will overwrite the global font size you may have specified in Global Configuration>Display>Style. To change the font size for any window that supports this feature, look for the "more" drop-down arrow in the title bar and select Configure Font.
Preset Offsets in Ticks
In addition to specifying the preset offsets in terms of absolute value and percentage, you can now specify the offset in ticks. The preset types listed will now allow you to set the offset in ticks:
- Primary Order - Limit Price, Stop Price, Stop-limit price, Relative limit price, Touched trigger
- Target Order (Profit-taker) - Limit Price
- Attached Stop Order - Stop Price, Stop-limit price, Adjusted Trigger Price, Adjusted Stop Price, Adjusted Stop-limit price
In addition, a new price specification, Bid/Ask Midpoint, has also been added to these default price field specifiers.
To modify presets, from the Edit menu select Global Configuration, and in the left pane select Presets.
Bond-Related Enhancements
We have recently added several enhancements related to bond trading, including:
- Minimum Size Enforcements - To help ensure bond orders adhere to the minimum size requirement, the size wand which displays in the Quantity field starts at the minimum size and increases in acceptable size increments. In addition, a new message will inform you if the resulting bond position will be outside the minimum required size.
- A warning has been added that informs you that the order you are submitting is for a bond that has already been called.
Support for Mini Options with non-Standard Multiplier
TWS now supports Mini options on US stocks. These options generally have a multiplier of 10 instead of the standard 100. To differentiate these mini options from regular stock options, the Trading Class field is being replaced by the "Multiplier" field. This applies only in cases where the differentiator is the multiplier. The Trading Class field will still display to differentiate options on the same underlying with the same multiplier.
This support has also been added to the API and requires minimum serversion 68. For the DDE, the release includes an updated version of the DDE for Excel API spreadsheet, TwsDde.xls, and an updated version (Version 16) of the file ddedll.dll. The updated spreadsheet now includes the Trading Class column on most pages. You use this field to request mini options data from TWS. For details, see the API Betanotes for release 9.69.
Chart Enhancements
We have recently added several enhancements to our charts, including:
- The "Lines meet at" entry field has been moved to the bottom of the Secondary Series window, accessed from the Edit menu within a chart.
- The display feature to highlight "My trades" within a chart has been optimized. Activate this feature from the Highlight on chart section of the Global Configuration > Charts > Settings page and in the Chart Parameters box.
- The chart's editable right margin is turned off by default. To activate the editable margin, from Global Configuration select Charts then Settings, and in the Display section check Margin area Once activated, a small, left-pointing arrow at the bottom of the x-axis allows you to drag the right margin in, providing a horizontal buffer. Drag the arrow back out to bring the right margin back to its original position.
- In the Trendlines section of Global Configuration > Charts > Settings, a new selection, Share when bar size is the same, has been added. This feature is only available when Share trendlines among charts is enabled, and will limit sharing of trendlines to charts that use the same bar size (e.g. 5 min bars, 4 hour bars, daily bars etc.).
- The Chart Colors settings in Global Configuration > Charts > Chart Colors now include a second tab, Studies, that allows you to specify a color for a study that will remain consistent throughout all charts. From the Studies tab, check Use global study color to ensure that any change you make to the color for a particular study goes across the same study in all charts.
Fixes and Changes
The following have been fixed or modified in TWS version 939:
- An issue with status message errors has been fixed.
- Display name of virtual security appearing instead of the equation in the Chart Legend on Linux - This has been fixed.
- The appearance of the hot buttons in the Charts toolbar has been improved.
- An issue with tooltips on MacOS X has been fixed.
- A problem with the appearance of the right popup menu in Charts has been fixed.
